Mercury SmartCraft NMEA 2000 Kit

Bring your Mercury or MerCruiser engine data to your chartplotter. At the heart of the kit is the Yacht Devices Engine Gateway YDEG-04, which reads the engine’s SmartCraft bus and converts the data to NMEA 2000. The gateway is delivered preconfigured, and the kit includes everything needed to build a complete NMEA 2000 network: cables, tees, power supply and terminators.

What data you get on the chartplotter

• RPM and engine hours

• Fuel consumption and tank levels

• Coolant and oil temperature and pressure

• Battery voltage, trim position and transmission data

• Engine warnings and alarms

One gateway supports up to four engines, eight fuel tanks and four batteries. Rule of thumb: if the data is shown on the engine’s digital gauge (e.g. VesselView, MercMonitor or SC1000), YDEG-04 gets it too. The amount of data depends on the engine and its sensors.

Compatibility

Suitable for Mercury and MerCruiser engines with the SmartCraft 2.0 system. According to the manufacturer, the kit should work with all Mercury and MerCruiser engines manufactured after 2011. Older SmartCraft engines may also work, but the available data cannot be guaranteed. If you are unsure about compatibility, please contact our customer service.

Installation

The gateway is delivered preconfigured for SmartCraft, with the settings on the included MicroSD card. The device is ready to install: the SmartCraft adapter cable connects to the 10-pin SmartCraft connector of the engine harness or to a SmartCraft junction box alongside existing devices, and the YDEG-04 connects to the NMEA 2000 network. The YDEG-04 only listens to the SmartCraft bus, so it does not interfere with the engine’s own systems. Make the connections with the power switched off.
